Who We Are
Kathryn Guyitt, President
Kathy Guyitt has been an active member of the building and design industry for over 25 years. Originally concentrating on Real Estate Law and Development in Los Angeles, Kathy transitioned to commercial design and construction after she relocated to Washington, DC. As Project Manager for a major law firm, Kathy oversaw the expansion of their existing office space and the opening new offices in the prestigious Willard Office Building for Senators Paul Laxalt and Russell Long. Drawing from her experiences in the field, she opened her own firm, Development & Design Management, which gave her the opportunity to work with architects, designers, builders and homeowners as a consultant and project manager.
After Kathy and her husband relocated to Southwest Florida, she was ready for a new challenge. Kathy earned her Florida State Certified Contractors license, and founded her own remodeling and construction firm: DesignTech of Southwest Florida, Inc. In 2008 Kathy was awarded the coveted Remodeler of the Year award by the Collier Building Industry Association. During Kathy’s tenure as Chair of the CBIA Remodelers Council in 2008, the RMC was awarded both National (NAHB) and State (FHBA) Awards for her Remodelers Council Goes Green Campaign.
Kathy is frequently requested to speak about best practices in remodeling, how to coordinate remodeling and design, using green building techniques in remodeling, Aging-in-Place issues, and the survival of a small business in today’s changing economy. Local publications frequently call on Kathy for her input. She is also a continuing education instructor for the NAHB on topics such as construction estimating, and Aging-in-Place. Kathy is highly dedicated to the growth of the remodeling industry and has made building trust and forming personal relationships with clients and colleagues the foundation of her successful business.
