Green
At DesignTech, we believe that green design and building are the way of the future. Green building techniques are not just the right thing to do; they can save you money on energy and operating costs, and provide tangible health benefits. President Kathy Guyitt is a Certified Green Professional (CGP), and is continually learning about new products and techniques for smarter and more environmentally friendly remodels.
Green remodeling can incorporate energy efficiency, water conservation, and sustainable or recycled products.
Here is a sampling of the green building techniques DesignTech uses:
- Recycle scrap and discarded building materials – over 50% of the material we remove from a project is recycled!
- Donate to charity useable materials including: appliances, cabinetry, countertops, plumbing fixtures, lighting, and more
- Use low and no VOC (volatile organic compounds) paint
- Sustainable materials including flooring, countertops, and more
- Energy smart low voltage lighting solutions
- Energy Star rated appliances
Recent federal tax credits and rebate programs can make purchasing energy efficient products for your home a great deal. Here is a helpful fact sheet published by the National Association of Homebuilders: Energy Efficiency Tax Credit Fact Sheet
